Important Installation Information

Note: Floyd is an iPad app designed to be installed in the center of the kitchen near your prep table (see photo below). It's best to have the iPad in a durable and mountable iPad case. We have provided some options below that have proven successful in practice.

It is also important to put the iPad into Guided Access mode so that employees do not inadvertently, or on purpose, exit the Floyd App.

What devices are compatible with Floyd?

Floyd is designed specifically for iPad devices, with optimal performance on an iPad 8th Generation or newer models. The app works best with 10th or 11th generation iPad models that have sufficient processing power and the latest CPU chips.

How do I set up Guided Access mode?

To enable Guided Access: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access, then turn it on and set up a passcode. When you want to use Guided Access with Floyd, first open the Floyd app, then triple-click the top or side button (on iPads without a home button) to start Guided Access and lock it onto the Floyd app. To turn off Guided Access, in order to leave the Floyd app, triple-click the top or side button and enter the configured passcode.

What internet connection do I need?

Floyd requires a stable internet connection for AI processing and real-time assistance. We recommend a minimum of 25 Mbps download speed for optimal performance. WiFi 6 or Ethernet connection is preferred for commercial kitchen environments.
